Facts
Ocean Acidification:
When we burn fossil fuels not only are we contaminating our air but we are also contaminating our ocean. The ocean absorbs the carbon is the air and messes with the PH and makes the ocean very acidic which not only hurts marine life but this comes back to us. It’s estimated that by the end of this century, if we keep pace with our current emissions practices, the surface waters of the ocean could be nearly 150 percent more acidic than they are now.
Trash in the Ocean:
The majority of the garbage that enters the ocean each year is plastic—and here to stay since most of the material that is dumped won't biodegrade. An estimated 80 percent of marine litter makes its way there gradually from land-based sources―including those far inland―via storm drains, sewers, and other routes.
